It’s a Wilde, Wilde west in the 2nd Cowboys & Aliens trailer

In a summer season that is overburdened with reboots, remakes and sequels, Cowboys & Aliens is starting to look like a bastion of originality. Director Jon Favreau, relinquished from the Iron Man series, seems to possess the right tone for this genre mishmash. With Spielberg listed as an exec-producer and a cast headed by Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, there’s every reason to be excited. It’s just a shame about that title.

The second trailer offers a few money shots, including a nude Olivia Wilde, but it isn’t quite as well-cut as its predecessor; that sense of foreboding in the teaser is sorely lacking here. It’s also clear to anyone that the CGI is far from finished.  Yet, I have faith in Favreau to deliver a fun, unpretentious blockbuster. Head on over to the Apple site, to see it in sparkling HD.

Aliens start some shit on 12th August.
