Ethan Hunt returns in the Mission: Impossible 4 trailer

There wasn’t much excitement surrounding Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the fourth entry in the spy series. Tom Cruise divides opinion, but his ability to make a solid film has never been in doubt. The trailer for M:I-4 is flat-out brilliant.

It marks the live-action debut of Brad Bird (The Incredibles), who seems to have brought plenty to the table, including a high-stakes plot that threatens the future of the IMF agency. And lots of running, shooting and pyrotechnics.

Joining Cruise, is new recruit Jeremy Renner, the delectable Paula Patton, and Simon Pegg, reprising his role as tech genius Benji Dunn from Mission: Impossible III. It appears that the geek favourite has an expanded role, and a brief shot of him wielding a gun suggests that he’ll be getting in on the action. And just like that, I can’t wait.

The mission, should you choose to accept it, begins on Boxing Day.
